I hate Arizona bugs. I know, the creatures are all over the world, but sometimes it seems like there are some really creepy-looking insects here.

In fact, if you look at Insect Identification, you can view all 928 insects in Arizona. That's right, over 900 little bugs call the state home. And that may not even be all of them! That's just the ones in the site's database.

I'll admit, some of the insects are kind of cute, but it's the scary ones that turn me away. I'm not sure where my dislike for bugs came from, considering when I was a child I thought many of them were cool. That one time a scorpion fell into the bath with me might have been the shift though...

Biggest Bug in Arizona?

Now, I'm not positive this is the biggest bug in the state, but it is a very large one! The Palo Verde beetle.

These critters can be up to 7 inches long, and to make it worse, they fly (and not very well)! These huge beetles come out during the summer monsoon to mate. Regardless of if they're harmless, I'm not going anywhere near one.

What are some of the creepiest bugs in the state?

I'm not going to lie, the Palo Verde beetle is one of the creepiest in the state, but there are several others that will cause a fright as well. Take a look at these 9 other frightening bugs you could spot in Arizona. Unless you easily get nightmares, then you might want to skip this list of creepy crawlers.
